Melendez comes to the Yuma Scorpions after having served the last 6 seasons as President and General Manager of the Laredo Broncos on the United League. During that time he was named Executive of the Year by the League three times. In addition he received the City of Laredo Young Businessman of the Year Award in 2007 and twice received Laredo Chamber of Commerce Business of the Month awards. Prior to his time in Laredo he spent three years in the front office of the Seattle Mariner's AA affiliate in San Antonio and a year with the Philadelphia Phillies Player Development organization. He also holds an M.B.A. and a Bachelor in Science degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio. John Witt, Director of Sales / Stadium Operations2011 is John's first season with the Scorpions and his 15th overall in Minor League Baseball. John will oversee ticket sales , sponsorships and advertising as well as stadium operations. Michael Peatross, Director of Media RelationsMichael joins the Yuma Scorpions after finishing the Arizona Winter League as an intern. Prior to this experience he attended graduate school at Southwest Minnesota State University graduating with an M.B.A. He also served as concessions manager and baseball operations director for two-years while at SMSU. While attending undergraduate school at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, he was a player/coach for the University baseball team. Melissa Schultis, Office ManagerMelissa is born and raised in Yuma, Arizona. She has recently graduated from Arizona State University. She received a Bachelor in Applied Biology and a minor in Excercise and Wellness. She enjoys baseball and is excited to be a part of the Yuma Scorpions. Robert Melendez, Director of ConcessionsRobert started in baseball with the Laredo Broncos in 2006. Since then he has worked in all aspects of Minor League Baseball, from graphic design to media relations, he now enters concessions. He was the director of operations during Jose Canseco's return to baseball in 2010. |
